Our Staff

A small, but beautiful team, with huge experience and a diverse range of skills, we are:

Isla Horton, Director

Co-founder of Grow Cardiff, Isla set up the charity with volunteers, staff and trustees from Riverside Community Market Association (now Riverside Real Food) in 2015.  Passionate about using community gardening as a tool for personal and community transformation, Isla has mentored, trained and supported many groups and individuals to grow food and to appreciate the wildlife on their doorstep. With a background in youth and community work, Isla loves working with children and teachers, older people, mums and dads, you name it!  When she isn’t heading up the charity, she enjoys pootling around in her back garden pond with her kids.

Chris Miller, Schools Engagement Officer

Chris is the newest member of the team, heading up our schools work with a focus on our Grow Some Sunshine project.  Chris has a background in supporting vulnerable young people, schools’ landscaping and in his spare time volunteers at his children’s local primary school to create a community garden.  Chris loves wildlife ponds, nature and growing and on his days off is on a mission to share as much frog spawn with his neighbours as possible!
